Sooner than later為何被譯成「遲早」?

一早起床，看到美國公司來信寫道：Can you try to get the countersign back sooner than later so we can invoice and work to collect this payment? 看到反黃色的部分，怎麼有些看不懂，這讓我緊張起來，顯然是很重要的內容。
根據谷哥翻譯，sooner than later譯為”遲早”，整句就會變成” 您能否嘗試遲早取回會簽，以便我們開具發票並努力收取這筆款項？”。句意有點怪怪的，我更迷糊了。

根據Washington State University的說明： “Sooner than later”這個片語，傳統的用法是“sooner rather than later”「越早越好」或是「很快」的意思，而現在許多人流行簡化寫為“sooner than later”。

您能否嘗試盡快取回附署文件，以便我們開立請款單來收取這筆款項？

countersign是「附署」或「會簽」的意思，通常用於合約或正式文件，必需雙方簽署才能生效。
